Amend the US Constitution to allow a line-item veto.
For years, Republican presidents have sought a line-item veto as an aid to curtailing government spending, particularly “pork barrel” spending initiatives or special tax breaks tied to appropriations bills. In 1996, Congress passed a law giving the president Legislation giving the president line-item veto power, but upon review by the Supreme Court in 1998, the law was found unconstitutional in a 6-3 decision. |

A study conducted by the very serious Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) examined Close to 800 children aged between 7 and 12 years old. They questioned and tested them during a one-year period. Those charming kids who remain "glued" to their "joystick" for hours are allegedly more intelligent than others. When many adults think of video games, they envision bombs, bangs and blood. As a result, many parents try to restrict their children's gaming time. The ESRC had basically to prove to them that they should let them play, to some extent.

Do you believe sport should be influenced by politics?
Is there a role for sports people in political life?
- Of course there is room for sports people in political life! More to the point, what is wrong with sports-people making moral decisions - we all do, everyday in life! The only difference here is that the effect is felt on a grand scale, and highlights issues which otherwise may be forgotten. African people are starving and dying because of that despot's political desire to remain in power at all costs. I see nothing wrong with their stand and applaud them for their courage.
Sport should help unite the warring political differences as opposed to fuelling them.- There is a role for sports people in political life. Politics has definitely taken a centre stage in everyday life.
- This is not an issue that can be decided by a governing body or sports commission. The players refusing to go are doing so for their own ethical reasons. I doubt if any official stance from any governing body will change opinions. Of course players have the right to take part in politics.- There are two ways to look at this important issue: sportsmen and women are citizens and therefore have a right to participate in political debate or issues. But the question is - should the morality of sportsmen be allowed to rise to the same high standards which their stardom puts them in the public eye? |

killing is wrong under any circumstances.
This is a tricky debate. The Pro side needs to define early on what they mean by "killing" and what they mean by "wrong," while at the same time keeping the debate interesting. However, the Con side should be discouraged from pushing an extremely liberal interpretation of the proposition as well, by saying something like "So killing trees and bugsand bacteria is wrong?" Both sides needs to find a happy, healthy, debatable middle-ground. This debate basically includes the abortion debate, the suicide debate, the euthanasia debate ad the death penalty debate, all in one. Both sides need to be creative in their arguments. Don't be afraid to use and "out there" argument, as long as it's logical and fits the topic; let the other side find the flaw. |

Media is the main cause for unhealthy eating habits.
Media as in many forms as become one of the most important way to convey certain message. In return, it brought good as well as bad influence to the public. Shifting to its dark side, the power of advertisement from the media has given us a the worst nightmare of all. Unhealthy eating habits has a long-term effect on people. Once, a man sued McDonalds for giving the wrong information about its nutritional facts and causing her daughter to have obesity. Eventually the man lost. To be real, what the man claimed could be real. Indirectly the root for this problem is the media. |

NATO Signs Agreement to Use Aidmatrix Network®
for Disaster Relief
Brussels, -- NATO EADRCC and the Aidmatrix Foundation announced their agreement to set up a partnership to help NATO EADRCC meet the challenge of managing donations in civil disaster scenarios. The agreement is with EADRCC (Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre), NATO's principal civil crisis response mechanism, which coordinates assistance in the Euro-Atlantic area from NATO Allies and Partners to countries that have been struck by a major disaster.
"Right now, we are handling all logistics with whiteboard, spreadsheets and brains", said Guenter Bretschneider, Head of EADRCC. "After witnessing the success of Aidmatrix software solutions during recent emergencies in the US for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), we are convinced that this is the right step for our organization to better handle donations in times of crisis. Aidmatrix Network® will make us faster, more transparent, more efficient."
Shari Temple, Managing Director, Aidmatrix Europe: "Aidmatrix Network® provides a single location to capture and report the full picture of need, donations, and delivery in real time. Whether it is product or volunteers, Aidmatrix Network instantly makes requirements from the field available to potential donors and vice versa. This also prevents unnecessary donations from getting in the way of critical life-saving efforts."
NATO EADRCC plans to launch the Aidmatrix Network® in late September. It will be available to 63 countries. These are the 50 Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) member countries - NATO Allies and Partners, the "Mediterranean Dialogue Countries", the "Istanbul Cooperation Initiative Countries" as well as Afghanistan and Kosovo.
About The Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc.

political leaders should have a private life
|
| |
 |
Practical Leader is better than an intellectual leader
We all know that practicality and intellect are two very important values that are suppose to be present in leaders of today either for a country or other organizations. But actually leaders tend to emphasis more on one value over the other. As to that, we can argue on what value should be implemented more. Either practicality or intellect is more important for the development or survival of a country to be prosperous and peace. |

Privatization of Education
Should the Education Sector be completely privatize?
this will talk about the pros and cons when the government privatize completely the education sector of the country. |
| |
 |
privatization of social security
|
| |
 |
Privatizing US Social Security
Social Security has been a very reliable form of social insurance and retirement pension for low income workers; however, due to demographic changes, it is inevitably going to run out of funds. As individuals live longer, retirees will require more years of benefits. Additionally, as baby boomers retire in greater numbers, more revenue will be required to meet payout obligations. With a shrinking workforce, and declining birthrates, this demographic transition will yield a much lower worker to retiree ratio than in the past for the “pay-as-you-go” system.
Many academics agree it will face a budgetary deficit in the near future; however, they don’t quite agree on a specific date. Most cite 2019 as the date it will begin running a deficit and by 2053 it will be broke. Some don’t feel action is required immediately because there is no problem yet, others argue immediate action is required to divert an imminent disaster. Republicans and Democrats disagree starkly on the issue with the socialist leaning Democrats hailing the program as successful and necessary and Republicans challenging its ideological legitimacy and economic viability. Both parties disagree on the nature of the pending disaster and how to deal with it.
Despite this disagreement, baby boomers are retiring in growing numbers and the worker to retiree ratio is expected to reach 1 to 4, up from 16 to 1 at the programs inauguration. This impending deficit yields three main solutions: raising taxes to pay for increased payouts, reducing obligated payouts to a manageable level, or abolishing the system altogether or incrementally through privatization. Either way a disaster is coming and future retirees will bear the cost; especially lower income retirees who rely on social security for a greater portion of their overall living expenses during retirement. It is obvious many current workers and future retirees will need to work through “traditional” retirement age in order to support themselves.
The major issue is whether to privatize or not. Most advocates of reform advocate some form of privatization where workers have a degree of ownership and control over their own social security payroll taxes and savings and can reap the rewards of private investment in a safe mixture of stocks and bonds.

Propaganda
Propaganda, in the most basic sense, presents information to alter the way people think. However, it uses very selective facts to manipulate and push the people towards the intent of the propagandist. Is it correct for propaganda to be used in the government or anywhere else since it edits the facts, thereby making the information unreliable and untruthful? |

Should India introduce the policy of "One family One child"?
China has successfully implemented the policy of "One family One child". But would a developing nation like India introduce such a policy? Overpopulation has spread its many hands over the resources of the countries and the citizens consume almost all the resources. So the question of export never arises. So to prevent the consequences of "Too many getting too little" especially in an upcoming nation like India the policy should be introduced. Or perhaps some of the people and politicians might not like it. |

We can see that a lot of players, especially physical jerks players and diving players who gain gold medals in the Beijing Olympic Games are at their 16th or 17th.They begin to learn the sports when they are very young.Maybe it's not their will to learn, they are too young to make a decision.Maybe they just follow their parents'will. Is this phenomenon good?Is it good for the players growing up? |

Should teenagers really have to seek permission from their parents/guardians for body modification, e.g. piercings, tattoos?
I'm 14 years old, and i have a few piercings, mostly in my ears but one through my lip. And i think it is rather unfair that i had to seek permission from my parents. I, of course understand that some people may not like piercings and tattoos but that is their own opinion and they are entitled to it. I have been nagging my parents to let me get more piercings and i may get a tattoo when i go on holiday this year, but for the teenagers who are not as fortunate as me, i do not think that they should have to seek permission for whatever they want to do to themselves.
I am slightly eccentric; i have multi-colored hair etc etc.
And i adore body modification.
I just believe that teenagers should not have to seek permission to edit themselves in whichever way they please. |

It seems to me that a lot of our soldiers are getting killed because there is too much "red tape" to get through before they are even allowed to fire a shot. Not only that, but it is harder to know who your real enemy is out there in a suburban warzone like that. I think that if our soldiers were given more freedom to do what they believed they needed to do, there would be a lot less U.S. casualties. |

Space Weaponization
Should the weaponization of space be allowed? Should international organizations allow the world states to weaponize space for their own purposes?
The weaponization of space has been a growing issue ever since the Cold War and it is in a sense a combination of the space race and the arms race that occured during the course of the Cold War.
At this point in time several of the world's main powers (particularly its nuclear powers) are looking into weaponizing space for a variety of reasons. Some look at space weaponization as the key to a better offense, while others look at it as a key to a better defense, and then there are those that see it as both.
Space Weaponization can be defined simply as the introduction of weapons systems into either (a) the space around earth's orbit or (b) outer space. Space weapons could be used for a variety of offensive and defensive purposes. They could be used to intercept ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) armed with nuclear warheads, they could be used in anti-sattelite warfare, or they could be used against other spacecraft. Weapons platforms in space could even potentially launch OSSMs (Outer Space to Surface Missiles) armed with nuclear warheads, biological weapons, chemical weapons, or conventional weapons. Space weapons could even be used peacefully against hazardous space object such as asteroids and meteors, as well as inorganic space "junk" or "garbage."
Proponents of space weaponization would have to argue that it is necessary for the defense of their nation, or that it is necessary for the advancement of their nation.
Those who negate a resolution to weaponize space must argue that it would escalate already present tensions and that it could eventually lead to nuclear war. They could also argue that it would only serve to create more inorganic space "junk" or "garbage".
In the end, the politics of space security, not the politics of space exploration, will be the deciding factor for as to which nation truly dominates not only space, but the Earth as we know it. |

This House Supports Governments untying all foreign aid.
Tied aid is foreign aid that must be spent in the country providing the aid (the donor country) or in a group of selected countries. A developed country will provide a bilateral loan or grant to a developing country, but mandate that the money be spent on goods or services produced in the selected country. Thus, untied aid has no geographical limitations.
Currently OECD estimates that 41.7 percent of Official Development Assistance is untied.
Is this enough or should governments untie all foreign aid to increase aid effectiveness.
This topic is of great importance because of the recent high level meeting in Accra, Ghana. |

In the past few years there have been considerable debates as to who is the geostrategic hegemon of the five post-Soviet Central Asian states. Understanding of this question is central to foreign policies of the big powers that are taking active steps to establish their position in the region. Most observers have noted that Uzbekistan is the real hegemon in the region, citing its superior military capability and the region's largest population. But how true is that? Will microfinancing solve problems of poverty in developing nations?
One possible solution that has presented itself in recent years is that of “microfinancing.” According to this new idea, banks give minute, low interest loans directly to individuals – Sometimes as small as 2 dollars a day. The purpose of these loans is to allow individuals – mostly single working women – to run businesses, and have enough money to break the circle of poverty, keep their kids in school, and over time, the people themselves emerge from poverty. |

Will militant islam lose its spuport if foreign troops withdrew from iraq?
Militant Islam is an approach to Islam that holds that the religion and its followers must be aggressively fought for on a political and religious level. Just as militant Muslims are but a segment of Islam, so too are supporters of violence and terrorism only a segment of all militant Muslims. Designation of people as practitioners of militant Islam is often highly contentious. Critics of such designation often ascribe bias and/or prejudice to such use of the term.
