Join us for an amazing experience in culture and debate as we hold this fourth annual international university tournament from December 11-13, 2009 at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing.
The International Debate Education Association and Hobart and William Smith Colleges aim to bring together an elite and internationally diverse group of debaters and adjudicators each year for a weekend of debate at the highest level.
Eighteen high school students and three teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) attend the highly interactive Youth Leadership Program and accompanying Teacher Professional Development Program, in Salem, Oregon, and Washington, DC.
IDEA is once again partnering with the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press to lead an American Parliamentary Debate training May 15-17 at the FLTRP facilities. The training is part of the FLTRP Cup, to be held in Beijing May 15-22.

Selection of participants for Introductory Debate Training - AJPRODHO and CRY UGANDA will select 25 participants each to participate in the introductory debate training.
February 2007
Introductory Debate Training - 25 participants from Rwanda and 25 participants from Uganda are trained by IDEA trainers (in Kigali and Kampala).
February - June 2007
Piloting of debate events in Rwanda and Uganda - with the assistance of project coordinators from AJPRODHO and CRY Uganda as well as IDEA and IEDC staff, the participants of the introductory training implement debate projects in their communities.
June – August 2007
Study visits facilitated by IEDC and IDEA - 18 participants from AJPRODHO and CRY Uganda will take part in study visits organized by IEDC and IDEA. The study visit to the Netherlands in May 2007 will provide 6 participants (3 from Rwanda and 3 from Uganda) with an opportunity to observe organization of neighborhood debates and the development work of IDEA-NL office.
The study visit to Lithuania facilitated by IEDC will take place at the beginning of June and provide 6 participants (3 from Rwanda and 3 from Uganda) with an opportunity to observe a teacher training in debate, working of school and community based debate clubs and a national youth debate forum.
A study visit facilitated by IDEA will expose 6 participants (3 from Rwanda and 3 from Uganda) to an international debate forum (IDEA Summer Debate Forum) organized by IDEA and its partners in July 2007 in the Czech Republic.
August - November 2007
Preparation of Regional Debate Forum – Project partners will work on the preparation of a week long youth debate forum for young people from Rwanda and Uganda.
November - December 2007
Regional Youth Debate Forum – a one week long youth forum will be organized in either Rwanda or Uganda.
