Join us for an amazing experience in culture and debate as we hold this fourth annual international university tournament from December 11-13, 2009 at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing.
The International Debate Education Association and Hobart and William Smith Colleges aim to bring together an elite and internationally diverse group of debaters and adjudicators each year for a weekend of debate at the highest level.

International Worlds Schools Debate Tournament November 05, 2009
TOURNAMENT BASICS
Debate format: Worlds School Debate Format, 8 minute speeches.
Number of speakers per team: 3.
Everybody who comes needs to debate all the debate rounds. Important: we are not accepting 4 or 5 member teams!
Accompanying adults should be judges. The rule is one or two teams one judge, three teams two judges. In short: everybody who comes as an adult should be able to judge.
Team cap: 40 teams.
The registration will be closed when we reach team cap, so register as soon as possible.
Number of debate rounds:
6 - 3 on prepared motions, 3 on impromptu + semi finals (impromptu)+finals (prepared)

Debaters will be offered home stays by Ljutomer debaters. Judges will be accomodated in the hotel.

CURRICULUM
UNIVERSITY STUDENT TRAINING : Each Instruction day features a main lecture, exercise and drillsessions, and two complete critiqued practice debates. Many elective classes offered.
Many training preparation sessions offered. Judge evaluation and training offered.
Advanced, basic and beginner tracks available. The best way to get ready for WUDC
in Turkey.
IDAS 2009 TRAINER PROGRAM
The International Debate Academy Slovenia will be offering a special track for trainers,
coaches and those interested in learning about how to train debaters and create
debate organizations such as clubs, academic programs and leagues. The program will call upon the extensive experience of the faculty to provide specialized training,
including: Basic debate training steps: observation, advice from experienced trainers
and curriculum guides Judging: instruction, shadow judging, real judging experience
Tournaments: hosting, administering, including tabulation software. Advanced debate
training: observation, advice from experienced trainers, curriculum guides. Organizing:
recruiting debaters, implementing training, scheduling meetings, publicity. Attendees
will have a sample judging session every morning as well as a special training session
in the afternoon. All events at the program will also be open to attendees. Special
needs and requests specific to individuals can be met if given advance notice.
TOURNAMENT: Sponsored by IDAS, ZIP and hosted by Faculty of Administration
University of Ljubljana. Six preliminary rounds and semifinals in the WUDC format. No team caps as of now. Faculty will serve as adjudication core and administration for the tournament.
EUROCLIO 17th Annual Professional Training and Development Conference March 22, 2010
The 17th EUROCLIO Annual International Professional Development Conference “A Bridge Too Far? Teaching Common European History, Themes, Perspectives and Levels” will take place on March 22-28 2010 in the vicinity of Nijmegen, a rich in historical heritage city, in the Eastern part of the Netherlands. From September 2009 the official Canon of 50 windows to Dutch History and Culture is compulsory for all pupils from 9 to 15. In 2010 the Association of Teachers in History and Political Science in the Netherlands, VGN, wants to explore with colleagues from all over Europe if this approach can be used as a model for a European Canon. The EUROCLIO Conference will explore a set of common topics in European History: Roman Times, Christianity and Islam, Industrial Revolution, Second World War, Cold War Period and aim to evaluate existing Dutch and international teaching materials for school history in design, pedagogic practice, assessment opportunities and professional implications.
Debate in the Neighborhood September 01, 2009 to December 31, 2009
From September-December 2009, several activities focusing on debate have been planned in the Netherlands. All part of the "Debate in the Neighborhood Program" that is organized by IDEA-Netherlands, these activities will take place in the cities of Zeelan
IDEA Inc. and the Dutch registered IDEA are separate organizations that
operate independently yet cooperate informally with each other. This
website, a joint presentation, is intended to promote both
organizations' interests while maintaining their respective
independence.
