IDEA General Assembly 2009
 
 
Dear Members of IDEA,

The General Assembly of IDEA will take place in London on the 11-12th of December. The General Assembly will take place in conjunction with the annual IDEA Exchange (www.idebate.org/exchange/).

All members of the General Assembly are cordially invited to attend the Grand Opening of the GA and the IDEA Exchange that will take place in the House of Lords in the Westminster Palace on Thursday the 10th of December. The Grand Opening will start at 18.00 in the Palace of Westminster (http://www.parliament.uk/parliament/guide/palace.htm) in the River Room. If you would like to attend the Grand Opening, please inform Marcin Zaleski (mzaleski@idebate.org) by no later than 27th of November to receive a personal invitation.

General Assembly sessions will start at 9.00 on Friday the 11th in the Deptford Town Hall Room at the Goldsmiths University (http://www.gold.ac.uk/)

The 1st day of the General Assembly will be dedicated to IDEA Business and will include the following items:
  1. Presentation of the annual report - 2008/2009
  2. Presentation of the financial situation of IDEA - financial report 2008-2009
  3. Presentation of the Youth Forum 2009 report
  4. Presentation of the budget for 2009-2010 and list of planned activities including the Forum in 2010 (Zeeland).
  5. Discussion of the Forum standards
  6. Presentation of the Forum bids for 2011/2012
  7. Elections to the Board of Directors
  8. Miscellaneous issues
The 2nd day of the General Assembly - 12th of December - will be dedicated to the following issues:
  1. Presentation of on-line tools on www.idebate.org and on-line activities (Wikipedia, World Online debating Championships, etc.);
  2. Discussion of IDEAs role as membership organization (including services, cooperation between IDEA and its members, etc.)
  3. Member program showcasing and reports (success stories, strategies, plans, synergies, etc.) Please bring your most recent publications, photos, PowerPoints, etc.


In the evening of 12th, all members of the GA are invited to informal celebration of Marcins birthday - location and the time to be announced later.

 
  Election to the Board of Directors
 
Dear Members and Sympathizers of IDEA,

An election will be held to the Board of Directors of the International Debate Education Association at the organizations next General Assembly, which will take place on 11th of December 2009 in London.

At least two Board members will need to be elected.

A candidate wishing to run can nominate himself/ herself. A candidate can also be nominated by somebody else - in which case, a nominated person will need to accept the nomination.

Please submit nominations and accept nomination no later than November 20th to: andrej.schulcz@sda.sk.

IDEA has booked twin rooms for members of the General Assembly in Ibis Hotel. IDEA will cover the costs of stay of one delegate per member for two nights as well as the cost of a lunch on 11th and 12th December at Goldsmiths University.

The GA will start at 9.00 with a registration at Deptford Town Hall (DTH) room 109 (DTH is marked number 17 on the http://www.gold.ac.uk/media/campus-map.pdf).

The nearest Tube station is Westminster (on the Circle, District and Jubilee lines).
