Socials

An essential part of the IDEA Youth Forum are its social mostly evening activities and the trips to explore the beauties of the host country. These are the glue that hold the pieces together, so we offer fun stuff to participate in every evening!

It has become a good tradition to host the cultural Expo night, which was last year called the Smolyan Festival of Cultures. It is an exhibition of anything that is typical for one’s land, cultures and inhabitants – food, drinks (non-alcoholic for the majority! – debaters) typical items, clothing, pictures, music, etc. It usually ends with dancing and singing together on music that many of you have not heard before. Check out some photos!

It has also become almost a tradition for the host to offer a peak into their own culture. Last year the Bulgarians taught us how to dance and play bag pipes. In Czech Republic a live band played music combining elements of traditional music with the use of strange musical instruments, like industrial pipes or cans from paint.
Additionally debaters have annually proven wrong the common stereotype that debaters aren’t good at anything else but debating. The hosts like to support this initiative by organizing a Talent show , where all sorts of talents (or not, who’s to judge anyway) are presented. Typically we also play a lot of teambuilding and get-to-know-each-other games, and also cards, board games and mafia. We also offer space and opportunity to play sports and do some dancing. Check out some photos!

As every year, also this year, there will be one whole day trip and one half day trip offered at the Youth Forum. Check out the whole day trip options here! There are many fascinating destinations throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina for every type of tourist and here are just a few that we could be taking you to: Sarajevo and in particular its old town; the Mostar’s Stari Most (old Bridge) symbolizing the bridging of western and eastern civilizations; Neum – the sunny Adriatic; Medugorje, one of the largest Catholic pilgrimages in the world; Sutjeska National Park, where the partisan army defeated the German troops in WWII or Europe's last remaining primeval forests in Perucica.
