Join the Lesson plans competition and win international public exposure!

This 6 weeks campaign aims to gather lesson plans from the coaches and teachers that focus on climate change or one of the specific motions of the Youth Forum. We will evaluate the lesson plans every week (6 weeks in total) and announce the winners via the YF Newsletter. The author of the best lesson plan of all 6 weeks will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony. Apart from public recognition, each winner will receive a book of his/her choice from the Idebate press.

1. Deadlines for submission of the lesson plan

week one - June 7
week two - June 14
week three - June 21
week four - June 28
week five - July 5
week six - July 12

2. Topic of the lesson plans

The lesson plan should focus on teaching about the topic of climate change. It can also focus on the specific motions we discuss in the Karl Popper Debate Championship (KPDC). Additionally it can focus on teaching any part of the topic analysis: definitions, controversies within the topic, most recent policies, etc.

3. Criteria for choosing the best lesson plans

- how original and diverse is the lesson plan
- how well can the goals set out for the lesson plan be achieved
- how clear and well explained are the materials and methods used
- enough details provided for other trainers and coaches to be able to replicate the lesson

You can submit as many lesson plans as you want! The more you submit, the higher chance you have for winning!

This site’s lesson plan helps students form definitions of the greenhouse effect, brainstorm the impact of global warming, compare various perspectives on the global warming issue, and develop a stance on global warming based on research/evidence.

Title: Global Climate Change – Lesson Plan

This site provides a basic lesson plan that focuses on being able to define global climate change, understanding the “greenhouse effect”, and whether a cap-and-trade system is ideal for reducing carbon emissions. It includes some preliminary reading and reference resources, as well as arguments to use on both sides of the issue to use for deliberation.
