Institute Fee and Payment
The fee to attend the IDEA Debate and Citizen Journalism Institute is $1900 USD. This fee covers the cost of transportation to and from the airport, courses, food, and lodging at the Institute for the dates of June 29th-July 19th. Visa entry fees are not included in this cost.
A 50% deposit for early registrants for the Institute is due April 1, 2008 to reserve your spot at Decemko. The remaining amount of fees are due by June 15, 2008. If you choose to pay 100% of Institute fees on April 1, your payment will be refundable if you are unable to attend.
Registration closes May 20th. Registrants who register after April 1 and have not paid a deposit need to pay Institute fees in full by June 1 to reserve their spot.
Once you register for the institute at www.idebate.org/tournaments, an invoice will be generated with your fees and payment instructions.
If you are located in the U.S. and plan to pay by check, please mail your payment to IDEA, Willamette University, 900 State St. Salem, OR 97301. Write the word "Institute" on the check memo line.
Institute Scholarships
A limited number of partial scholarships will be awarded based on merit and financial need. Please download and complete the form at the bottom of this page to apply. Send the form as an attachment to alathrop@idebate.org. You must register for the Institute in order to be eligible for a scholarship.
Participants from IDEA member countries are eligible to apply for a full fee scholarship. High school students, university students, and teachers are eligible to apply. Please download and complete the form at the bottom of this page and send to Marcin Zaleski at mzaleski@idebate.org to apply for a full scholarship.
Countries that are eligible for full schoarships: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Haiti, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Serbia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.
*The deadline for full scholarship applications has been extended from March 21st to April 1st. All applications--whether from a debate association or individual--should be sent to mzaleski@idebate.org and alathrop@idebate.org by April 1st.
