Introduction

Dear Middle School Speech and Debate Sponsors,

On behalf of the International Debate Education Association, (IDEA) the Middle School Forensic League (MSFL) and Claremont High School Speech and Debate Team, I would like to cordially invite you to the IDEA / MSFL National Tournament to be held at Claremont High School and El Roble Middle School, June 30-July 2nd, 2006, in Claremont, CA.

We will be using two sites for competition on Saturday: Claremont High School and El Roble Middle School. On Friday and Sunday, all competition will take place at Claremont High School. Claremont High School is just two blocks from the tournament hotel, and El Roble Middle School is less than 5 minutes away from the tournament hotel. On Saturday, LD and CX debate, as well as Section A will be at El Roble, while Public Forum and Parliamentary Debate, will be at Claremont High School. Coaches with students participating in debate events at both sites should plan to provide a chaperone for the El Roble site as well as the Claremont High School site.

The tournament promises to be a rigorous and challenging event, featuring contestants from all over the United States and the world competing in a variety of speaking and debating events over the course of three days. All contestants advancing to elimination rounds will receive awards. Sweepstakes awards will also be awarded to the top-finishing schools.

We will be offering 15 speech and debate events at this year's IDEA / MSFL National Tournament. To register for this event please click the Registration link above. We will accept entries on a first-come, first-served basis until our number limit is reached. Registration will open on April 1st. The entry deadline is Monday, June 12th, 2006, at 5:00pm (PST). After this time, all dropped entries will be charged in full. Please read the invitation carefully and pay close attention to all the entry and event specifics.

We look forward to seeing you in June!
