How Can Schools Earn More By Simply Participating in the TPS Global Debates?

IDEA-TPS Global Debate Special Bonus for Schools Outside of the United States

In addition to the amazing grand prize offered by the UNF, the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) is presenting extra prizes for all international (non-U.S.) schools that participate in the TPS Global Debates (2007-2008). IDEA wants your school to make it to the UN! And IDEA wants you to go in style!

IDEA-TPS Global Debate Bonus Reward System - Trade Points In for Prizes

All schools participating in the TPS Global Debate Contest are eligible for earning even more prizes, if their debate clubs register their school on DebateTracker, indicating the name of their local IDEA-member NGO. In other words, while each participating school will earn UNF points that make them eligible for the UNF grand prize of a trip to the UN in New York, each school’s debate club will also earn DebateTracker points, which are redeemable for the following products. You can trade in your earned DebateTracker points for the following prizes:

ITEMCost in DebateTracker Points

Stopwatch1000
Tote Bag2000
Messenger Bag3000
Subscription to iDebate3000
IDEA Book ($20 - $30)4000
IDEA Medal Set5000

School debate clubs can “buy” any combination of these things with the points that they earn through UNF, so long as they also register (and track their earnings) on DebateTracker.

School debate clubs need to claim their points and “buy” the prizes by May 31, 2008.

DebateTracker Registration

The registration is fairly straightforward. All schools outside of the United States that are participating in the TPS Global Debates and that are registered earners of UNF points may receive something extra for all the UNF points they are earning. Here are the three simple steps:

  1. Register your School
  2. If applicable, indicate the IDEA member NGO that is associated with your school. Or, if applicable, indicate the IDEA member NGO that recruited your school for participation in the TPS Global Debates.
  3. Start earning! You will receive one DebateTracker Global Debate Point for each UNF Point you earn through TPS Global Debate participation.

Difficulties

If you have any problem registering on DebateTracker, or if you notice a problem with the points that you are earning on DebateTracker, then please inform IDEA immediately.

Deadlines

For the Fall Global Debate, you must submit all of the documentation of your activities into DebateTracker by November 30th, 2007. For the Spring Global Debate, you must submit all of the documentation of your activities into DebateTracker by April 30th, 2008.

IDEA-TPS Global Debate Grand Prize!

Plus, there’s more! When schools reach certain point thresholds, they will automatically win an amazing grand prize.

When schools earn 10,000 points, they receive one participation fee waiver for Duino (2008). When schools earn 25,000 points, they receive four participation fee waivers (one coach and three student debaters) for the IDEA summer youth forum (2008).

Elite Status

In recognitions of their hard work, participation, and enthusiasm, top schools earning the greatest number of total points will also earn special IDEA-UNF Elite Global Debate School status. Make your country, your school board, and your students proud – aim for elite!

IDEA member NGOs Can Earn Something Extra!

What About IDEA-NGOs?

IDEA-NGOs can also earn points to cash in for prizes. For each point that an IDEA-NGO registered school earns, that IDEA-NGO also wins the same points. The IDEA-NGO must ensure that schools register themselves as part of the NGO on DebateTracker in order for the IDEA-NGO to win points as well.

Just as schools earn points to cash in for prizes, IDEA-NGOs can also earn the same points for the same prizes. IDEA member NGOs can trade in your earned DebateTracker points for the following prizes:

IDEA-UNF Global Debate Recruitment Plaque

Every IDEA-member NGO that recruits ten or more schools into the UNF Global Debates will earn a Recruitment Awards Plaque and special status on the IDEA-Global Debates site.

IDEA-NGO Global Debate Recruitment Grand Prizes

When IDEA-NGOs reach 100,000 points, they will receive a special grand prize: one participation fee waiver for Duino (2008).

When IDEA-NGOs reach 250,000 points, they will receive a extra-special grand prize: one team’s (one coach and three student debaters) participation fee waiver for the IDEA summer youth forum (2008).

Elite Status

In recognition of their recruitment and motivational efforts, those IDEA-NGOs that earn the highest number of total points will also earn a special status: IDEA-UNF Elite Global Debate NGO. Make your country, your schools, and your debaters proud – become elite!
